We removed lots of rusty screws and bolts. Saturday was mostly cleaning out the cockpit sheet metal, Alex is continuing to focus on removing the electrical system. That includes pictures, tagging and carefully removing. It's way easier to work on systems with the skin removed, I wonder what the order will be to put all the stuff back in?
Sunday was gorgeous, 60 and sunny, so I went out and started to clean up the engine and get it ready to remove and store inside. I am filling the cylinders and engine with Marvel Mystery Oil, I hope this will break down any corrosion between the rings and the cylinders so we can remove them more easily. The cylinder fins were full of dust and sand, a nice hot steam clean might help later. I found lots of mud wasp nests. The carburetor was full of mud balls! And I found the top cylinder had stuff inside as well, a mouse nest? We'll see when we take it apart! Overall, neat to see all the original parts and components there!!
Next weekend we will remove the prop with a tool I have been building.
