Saturday, I took the day off from the restoration and volunteered as a Christmas gift at lighthouse farm sanctuary cleaned out hay stalls and loaded new bales into the barn, I sneezed a lot, but it sure was fun! And the sun was out, very unusual in winter wet Oregon. Here are two of my favorite photos, I bought apples and carrots!
Back to work early Sunday, I unscrewed the nut off the back of the canopy car and had to use a screw driver and hammer to remove the two forward carriers from the shimmed cars and off it came, weighed 5 pounds?
Now I can continue removing rivets from the large left skin panel that were covered by the overhang of the canopy frame.
All the rivets are drilled out and per usual, I am by myself, I hung the panel with rubber shock cords before taking out the last rivets.
Ta Daa! I was surprised how light and thin the skin was, then the let down after seeing all the frame damage. I will look at it for a week, maybe have Jack look at it too to give me some guidance.
The forward wing mount damage, don't you hate it when you forget to take a nut off? Dummies.
Lots of dirt, I vacuumed it, it plugged it up a few times. Once the skins are off I will steam clean it in the driveway. I found one North American factory mistake, I was kind of surprised. See you next week, more skin.
